Welcome to THE NEWS PAGE:

Don’t forget to check out the Victory Wheeler Merchandise Page

November 2009

Welcome to the first Newsletter for the new Wheelers year. As I might have mentioned when you elected me after such a short time as a member to become Chairman it was with trepidation and flattery that I accepted. However that was a month ago and we are well into mapping the new Wheelers Year.

First I would want to thank Big Al for all the work he did and for the successes he had. Sadly you will all know that AL is not enjoying good health at this time. He was so pleased to receive the photo of you all we took at the AGM. Al sends regards and thanks to all members. At the time of writing this newsletter he has requested NO VISITORS for the moment, and we respect these wishes. Kathy is in touch with a few of us and will update as she can.

The Christmas Dinner has been booked and hopefully you will give your orders to me tonight. We now have 50 members and only seating for 62 so first come first served I am afraid.

Our first committee meeting was held last week. Let’s all make a real effort in making ourselves known out there and also to attend the Rod and Custom events that are attended by just a few, this of course goes the other way as well!

In January I have asked The Rolling Blokes to give us a slide show of their trip to America where there are some fantastic pictures. January 6th 2010 at the Chase looks good I can provide a projector. That’s all folks for now. See you and partners at the Christmas Dinner.

CLUB MEMBERSHIP
Membership of Victory Wheelers was discussed and the conclusion was that being a member is about having an interest in cars, and not having to necessarily being an owner of a vehicle. Type of vehicles includes Rod and Custom, pre 73’ and any American.

Two types of membership offered with/without NASC membership. The club will continue to pay half the cost of those members wishing to belong to the NASC. Which is currently £10 (club to pay half).

Membership runs from December each year for a year at a cost of £12 each (£17 with NASC), this price of £12 will be reduced for anyone joining throughout the year i.e. £9 for 9 months membership, although if anyone joins at any time in the last six months they will have to pay £6 (plus new membership fee of £5).

To encourage more members to attend shows together, we will introduce an ‘Events Calendar’ showing all relevant shows we could attend throughout the year, and this will be handed out at a meeting or sent/emailed to each member. Also emails or texts will be sent out to members for any local shows. We have decided to re-introduce a club ‘Attendance Register’ and this information will be used to issue any free tickets we are given (eg Beaulieu) Sadly some members only appear on free food nights.

BEAULIEU SHOW
Information so far is that the show is booked for the 18th, 19th & 20th June 2010. A date for your diaries! We are being allowed entry to Beaulieu from 2pm on the Friday 18th. The event will be advertised in Classic American, Custom car and American car world, and hopefully one advert before Xmas.

We are hoping to have the Low Riders Club at the show, as well as Cacklefest again.

We will be allocated 30 free tickets for Wheelers members.

We discussed having Pro-Tyre as a stand at show, as on production of your Wheeler membership card at any Pro-Tyre you will receive a discount on tyres etc.

Also discussed was idea of a company called TVI (bike specialists) based in Romsey, sponsoring the bike trophy.

Entertainment being considered at moment is a DJ (Mick Mears) for Friday and Saturday night, also on Friday night the BLACK CAT BOPPERS (Rock n Roll band) A ZZ TOP tribute band and BURLESQUE girls for Saturday, and a STEEL BAND for Sunday.

HAYLING SHOW
Suggested dates are 9th or 16th May 2010. We will continue with the same format as last year with presenting top 5 prizes . We will have discussions with café and pub (pub under new management).

Advertise via flyers and radio, also Havant Council will place show on list of events. Unfortunately all will have to pay for parking on the day!

February 2009

Greetings, Now that 09 is well under way, here are some updates...

XMAS MEAL
Christmas meal was well attended at The Chase. Alberto and all the staff did a fantastic job! Fabulous food and a definite christmassy feel made the evening!

HAYLING REUNION
The date is set, Sunday 17th May, the council have been informed, the beechlands officers have been informed but the 'Inn on the Beach' is closed and stands empty awaiting a new landlord. This shouldn't be a problem as the land surrounding the pub is council owned. If the pub is not open by May the Café across the road will cater for us, going as far as to say they would put on a special menu including a BBQ and/or hog roast and allow a band to perform on their land. The tarmac car park belonging to the Café could be used for bikes. Martin is drawing up some artwork. Flyers will be printed soon.

BEAULIEU
Advertising is well under way, plenty of flyers have been handed out and the word is out on various forums. Chris is doing an advert for Custom Car. The Beaulieu team are in regular contact and seem very committed to making our show successful. As a club, let's match their enthusiasm!

WHEELS DAY (Good Friday, 10th April)
Loomies diner, A32/A272 crossroads, west meon hut, will be opening up for us at 7am as last year. After filling up with breakfast we can cruise up to Aldershot Arena, with hopefully a hailstone free journey!

This picture was taken just before we left Loomies last year.

How about Good Friday as the date for the first Wheelers cruise night at Frankie & Benny's Diner, Whiteley Village?

Seeing as most of us will be out in our cars anyways! Hopefully a monthly cruise night between Easter & Halloween can be set up, maybe on some Wednesday nights, club night? Your thoughts?

CAUTIONARY TALE
A father has been jailed for four years after losing control of his modified 4x4 Land Rover which killed his children who were occupants in the car. This incident has brought to the fore DIY modifications, expect repercussions!
