Mick’s Chevy

Chairmans Ride (available for Wedding Hire, call club line)

Wheelers ex-chairman Mick Mears has a ’47 Chevy Stylemaster sedan. It was originally recovered from a North Carolina junkyard for $150 and was finished in black and rust. It was renovated in the States before being shipped over to Alan Wesson, proprieter of Plastic Fantastic (which specialises in period accessories for pre-60’s USA cars). Alan sourced fender skirts, visor, bumper guards etc. and had the car repainted in two tone cream and brown. The car was then involved in an accident where it demolished a Ford Sierra! It was dismantled and partially repaired. This is where Mick stepped in. The car was trailered from Derby down to Southampton and work began to re-assemble the car and finish off the repair work. Mick had always loved the Ford colour Pembroke Coral, as used on ‘50’s Fairlane’s. This was applied to the roof to brighten up the car, whilst Nissan greyish yellow (or County Cream as Dulux would call it!) was applied to the lower half.
