2008 Season

The season started at a very cold, and what turned into, a very snowy Easter Thunderball at Santa Pod. However, our weekend was ended not by the weather, but by a coming together with a fellow competitor who had a stuck throttle. The incident caused a broken front wheel and steering, so it was back on the trailer and back home.

We were back out in time for the May Springspeed festival at Shakey, and managed a few runs in amongst the rain showers which were to become the trait of the season.

The season progressed with a fourth place at the Summer Nationals at the Pod, a second place at the Northern Nationals at York Raceway, and a first ever event win at The National Finals in September.

Overall the season was very successful finishing second overall in the Wild Bunch series, with equal points to the Cunning Plan team who finished first. Our second place determined by the number of final round wins.

In amongst the racing the slingshot appeared at a number of static shows, raising money for the Air Ambulance at The Lamb in Theale, providing something different at Curdridge Country Show, and picking up the Best Victory Wheelers Entry at the Hot Rod and Drive In Day at The National Motor Museam at Beaulieu. The prize (many thanks to Autoglym) being presented by Lord Montague himself.

Many thanks to all the track operators, marshals and safety crews for all their hard work through the season. See you in 2009.
